Melody Makers Virtual Youth Choir
Does your child/teen love to sing pop music in harmony? Singing together is hugely important for a child’s mental health not to mention developing key skills as a musician and for fun. We feel it is such a shame that children can’t sing at school at the moment. So, Melody Makers Choir are thrilled to be able to offer young people the chance to sing together through the powers of technology – it’s the next best thing to physically singing together!
Melody Makers Choir has been running for almost 5 years and we are no strangers to chart success and recordings. Check out their YouTube channel and their 2018 charity single ‘We Are The Same Inside’ which made it to number 6 on Amazon Music.
Choir leader, Natalie Veal, previously Assistant Director of Music at a secondary school and now a full time choir leader, is thrilled to be able to give many children the chance to join a new ‘virtual, after school, youth choir’ and to create a virtual recording, continuing their love of singing during this strange time.
The sessions will be lots of fun, fully inclusive to all levels, developing a skill to sing in harmony whilst learning lots of exciting pop music.
There are two choirs, split into two age groups (age 8-11 and age 12-18). Age appropriate pop/rock songs will be chosen by Natalie. Children will need no experience and neither will they need to audition – just a love of singing. At choir, we are all equally valued whatever your age, race, gender or religion – everyone is welcome. At the end of the 5 weeks, children will then individually record a song at home (with plenty of guidance and instructions) which will then be professionally edited. The 5 week block costs £25 per person or £35 per household if there is more than one child. You’ll need a device and an internet connection to take part in the rehearsals. Children must be at home with a parent/carer. Natalie holds an up to date CRB disclosure and is a professional member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
If you would like to join, please email Natalie at firstname.lastname@example.org to get more information. Or do give Natalie a ring if you would like a chat – 07890 393175.
